Cleveland

Cleveland is a city in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. It is located on the shore of Lake Erie, about 60 miles west of the Pennsylvania border. With a population of more than 390,000 in 2013, the city is the second most-populated in Ohio, after Columbus. It is the county seat of Cuyahoga County, considered the most populous county in Ohio.
The location of Cleveland has made it a major manufacturing hub for a long time. It is famous as a durable goods manufacturing area. Industrial growth in the area was significantly driven by the launch of the Ohio and Erie Canals in 1832. The economic relevance of the city was also helped by its connection to several railroad lines. The port of Cleveland handles the largest overseas general cargo anywhere on Lake Erie.
As with some other cities in the country, Cleveland is moving from a manufacturing-focused economy to one with greater emphasis on services. The economy is now more diverse with different sectors, including financial services, health care, biomedical, retailing and insurance. Large companies with corporate headquarters in "The Forest City" include Applied Industrial Technologies, Forest City Enterprises, Cliffs Natural Resources, and NACCO Industries. Cleveland is home to the Glenn Research Center of NASA. Its largest employer is the Cleveland Clinic, which had more than 37,000 employees in 2008.
The city boasts several cultural attractions, including the Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Museum of Art. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is situated here.
